For twenty years we've kept business computers secure in southeast Wisconsin. The people using those computers kept asking us the same thing about the ones at home.
Total PC Protection is a service provided by Alpha Geeks, a leading managed service provider and computer repair shop in the metro-Milwaukee area. Alpha Geeks has been in business since 2005, and has serviced thousands of computers in a history that is now past the twenty-year mark.
That history is the whole reason this product exists in the shape it does. The software running on a Total PC Protection computer is the same software we deploy for business clients — it was not built down to a consumer price point. It is the business product, made available to households.
The shop is at 330 W. Drexel Ave. in Oak Creek, Wisconsin. Total PC Protection itself is delivered remotely, so it works the same wherever you are in the country.
The concept for Total PC Protection came from the people working at the companies Alpha Geeks services. Many of them told us the same thing: they wished their home computers could be secured as well as the ones at work were.
We heard that over and over, and eventually decided to do something about it. Business-grade security should not be limited to businesses alone.
Home computer users deserve business-grade protection — and there is a fair argument that they need it more than the machine on their desk at work does.
Consider what happens on a home computer that mostly doesn't happen on a work one. Facebook and other social media, which are well-known places for malware to get passed around. Music and video downloads. The family's second-hand laptop, the kids' homework, the online shopping, the tax return — the whole range of things people simply don't do on a computer their employer manages.
So the behavior at home carries more risk, not less. And until now the protection has usually been whatever happened to come with the computer.
Alpha Geeks has spent two decades doing the unglamorous version of this work — the machine that won't boot, the drive that failed with the only copy of everything on it, the network that has to stay up because eleven people are trying to work. Total PC Protection is what twenty years of that looks like when you package it up in advance instead of waiting for the phone to ring.

The shop moves to Franklin and acquires a competitor, growing the team and the range of work it takes on.
Back to Oak Creek — 330 W. Drexel Ave., Suite 2, where the shop is today.
Thousands of computers later, Total PC Protection is delivered entirely remotely. Milwaukee is where we are, not who we can help.
Two things have carried over from the repair shop into this product. The first is flat-rate pricing: $140 a year per computer, published, with no volume discount to negotiate and no tiers to compare.
The second is that we are happy to explain things. If you want to know what a piece of software actually does before it goes on your computer, ask — you'll get a real answer rather than a brochure.
Tell us how many computers you have and we'll get you scheduled. No pressure, no salespeople, no call center.
